Job Summary:
Provides overall technical support for complex CNC production machinery and equipment. Responsibilities include developing and optimizing manufacturing methods; diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment, process, and tooling issues; implementing preventative and predictive maintenance strategies; designing, fabricating, and executing long-term corrective actions to improve reliability, performance, and productivity.
Performs highly technical work requiring independent judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making within established policies, procedures, and industry best practices. Works with minimal supervision while effectively managing priorities and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Provides technical assistance and support to manufacturing operations
- Technical assistance in the operation and programming of CNC machining equipment
- Technical assistance in operating production machines, machine changeovers, preventive maintenance and developing / maintaining process documents.
- Ability to perform quality inspections using attribute and variable gauging.
- Diagnoses and correct problems with production machinery.
- Ability to create mechanical drawings for machine components.
- Work in coordination with representatives from various machine builders and colleagues.
- Be involved in machine installation and moves from a mechanical technician perspective.
- Develop and design tools or fixtures as needed.
- Participates in teams and cross-functional groups.
- Assists engineering in the running of prototypes and new program development.
- Ability to complete projects from beginning to end with little supervision.
- Basic understanding of Pneumatic, Hydraulic, and Electrical schematics.
Education:
- Two-Year Technical Degree preferred, experience and certifications are considered.
- Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing facility.
- CAD modeling and detailing, SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCad.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing facility.
- Basic Knowledge of PLC logic and related controls. Understanding manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
- Knowledge of manufacturing process improvement methods such as 5S and Team Problem Solving.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and drawings.
- Experience in machine building or automation troubleshooting.
- Technical knowledge of machine tools and machining processes.
- Technical knowledge of assembly processes.
Desired – Education/Skills/Experience:
- CNC machining experience.
- High level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- General MS Office suite ability.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility: 90% of the time
- Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 75% of the time
- Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 40% of the time
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a frequent basis: 30% of the time
- Must be able to lift over 30lbs on an infrequent basis: 10% of the time
- Must be able to push/pull materials using motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment on an infrequent basis: 20% of the time
- Must be able to sit at a workstation: 80% of the time
- Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 80% of the time
- Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
- Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
