Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced UPK Head Teacher for our UPK programs in Westchester County. The Family YMCA at Tarrytown will oversee the program, which is located in several elementary schools. To qualify you must have the following credentials:
Have a New York State Certification valid for service in the early childhood (B-2) or childhood grades (N-6 or 1-6) or students with disabilities in early childhood grades (B-2, 1-6, N-6)
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
## Responsibilities
- 1. Implements Tools of the Mind Curriculum. Sets UPK students up for success. Training for the curriculum will be provided.
2. Develops lesson plans and schedules
3. Contributes to child learning, growth, and advancement.
4. Displays a passion for developing preschool-age-appropriate educational activities and practices.
5. Maintains a positive mindset toward child learning and social-emotional development.
6. Works efficiently within existing learning structures and believes in the capability of children to excel.
7. Serves as a role model to child learners.
8. Invests in the students’ well-being, health, and safety.
9. Demonstrates ability to learn and convey a variety of subject matters quickly.
10. Manages small and large groups of students in a classroom environment and communicates effectively with students, including on potentially sensitive topics
## Experience
1. Three- five years’ experience with Early Childcare. Minimum requirement: Undergraduate Degree in Education. Masters Preferred.
2. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
3. Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
