Job Summary
As the Site Manager – Window Cleaning, you will provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the location window cleaning and exterior glass maintenance operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and service are consistently achieved. You will oversee daily staffing, scheduling, training, quality inspections, equipment management, safety compliance, and client relations while ensuring all contractual obligations and performance standards are met. The Site Manager serves as the primary point of contact for airport management and leadership, coordinating field operations, maintaining OSHA and fall protection compliance, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Success in this role requires proven leadership, strong operational and safety management skills, exceptional attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to effectively manage window cleaning operations in a fast-paced, 24/7 airport environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee Site Operations: Manage all day-to-day window cleaning operations , ensuring contract requirements, quality standards, and client expectations are consistently met.
Staff Leadership: Supervise, lead, and develop field crews of 10–25+ window cleaning technicians. Provide coaching, training, performance evaluations, corrective action, and ongoing support to maintain operational excellence.
Scheduling & Workforce Management: Create and adjust daily work schedules, assign building sections, cleaning routes, and work zones while ensuring adequate staffing coverage. Manage call-outs, staffing shortages, emergency coverage, and productivity in the field.
Quality Control: Conduct routine inspections and walkthroughs to ensure all glass surfaces meet company quality standards for cleanliness, streak-free finishes, and overall appearance. Document deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for airport representatives, facility management, and the organization leadership. Respond professionally to client concerns, requests, and feedback while maintaining strong working relationships.
Operational Reporting: Complete daily job logs, field reports, safety documentation, incident reports, and operational updates. Document completed work with photographs and communicate operational concerns promptly to upper management.
Equipment & Inventory Management: Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and inventory of window cleaning equipment, PPE, lifts, tools, chemicals, and supplies. Ensure all equipment remains operational, properly maintained, and compliant with safety requirements.
Safety Compliance: Enforce OSHA regulations, fall protection requirements, PPE compliance, and company safety policies. Conduct routine safety meetings, hazard assessments, and ensure all employees follow established safety procedures while working at heights and operating lift equipment.
Training & Employee Development: Train new hires and provide ongoing coaching on window cleaning techniques, equipment operation, fall protection, chemical handling, and safe work practices. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Contract Compliance: Ensure all window cleaning services meet contractual obligations, service-level agreements, and company performance standards while maintaining operational efficiency.
Problem Resolution: Address employee concerns, operational challenges, equipment failures, weather-related issues, client requests, and emergency situations quickly and effectively to minimize service disruptions.
Team Collaboration: Promote a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment while encouraging accountability, communication, and teamwork among all field employees.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in commercial cleaning, high-rise window cleaning, or exterior building maintenance.
- Minimum of 2+ years in a supervisory or Site Manager role.
- Experience managing field crews in high-rise or exterior maintenance environments.
- Experience working at airports, commercial buildings, or other large-scale facilities preferred.
- IWCA (International Window Cleaning Association) Certification required
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of high-rise and commercial window cleaning methods, including:
- Water-fed pole systems.
- Squeegee and traditional hand-cleaning techniques for exterior glass.
- Safe cleaning practices for elevated and difficult-access surfaces.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA safety regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Experience with fall protection systems, including harnesses, lifelines, anchor points, and fall prevention procedures.
- Experience operating Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP), boom lifts, and scissor lifts.
- Ability to identify workplace hazards, complete risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and proper handling of chemicals used in exterior cleaning.
- Ability to enforce PPE compliance and safe work practices at all times.
Leadership & Operations
- Ability to supervise crews of 10–25+ field employees.
- Experience assigning work routes, building sections, and cleaning zones.
- Proven ability to manage daily field operations while maintaining productivity and safety.
- Experience handling employee call-outs, staffing shortages, and emergency coverage.
- Ability to provide on-site training, coaching, and employee development.
- Experience completing daily job logs, field reports, and operational documentation.
- Ability to document completed work using photographs and written reports.
- Strong communication skills with airport personnel, facility management, clients, and company leadership.
- Ability to immediately communicate safety incidents, operational concerns, and equipment issues.
- Experience coordinating schedules across multiple terminals, buildings, or work locations.
Quality & Client Standards
- Experience conducting quality inspections of completed window cleaning work.
- Ability to participate in client walkthroughs and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure all work meets contract requirements, quality standards, and service-level agreements.
- Maintain strong client relationships while delivering exceptional service.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, humidity, and direct sunlight.
- Comfortable working at heights while using approved fall protection equipment.
- Ability to safely operate ladders, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other elevated access equipment.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules, including overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require.
Salary Range: $52,000 – $55,000 annually
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with operations conducted on two primary shifts: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. The Site Manager must be available to work either shift based on operational needs and business demands. Schedule, shift assignment, days off, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be adjusted as necessary to support operations, weather conditions, staffing requirements, and client needs. Flexibility is essential for this role.
