Upon entry, the incumbent participates in a structured probationary training and credentialing process designed to develop the knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, and operational competencies required to function as a Firefighter/AEMT with Caroline County Fire-Rescue & Emergency Management.
Work is evaluated through observation, reports, conferences, completion of assigned training, successful attainment of required certifications, demonstrated competency, and compliance with department policies and procedures.
The duties/responsibilities of the Firefighter/AEMT are distinguished from those of the Firefighter/EMT in that the Firefighter/AEMT position is expected to maintain certification in advanced life support operations to the AEMT level and, upon department release, serve in a lead capacity at the scene of EMS incidents.
