Provides Director of Clinical Services with referral information. Verifies insurance coverage and negotiates with third-party payers for reimbursement as appropriate.

Responsibilities:
- Receives all patient referrals from providers and maintains referral statistics
- Builds and maintains close referral and third-party payer relationships through appropriate and timely written and phone communication
- Obtains referral information for the initial determination of a patient and family service needs
- Works closely with the Director of Clinical Services and all Patient Care Coordinators to ensure that referral information is processed and services are provided
- Provides all aspects of patient care to include fulfilling the role of Executive Director or Director of Clinical Services in absence
- Performs on-call professional duties as needed to assist team in providing care or services and 24-hour availability
- Initiates communication with providers, attending physicians, other appropriate hospice staff members and other agencies as needed to coordinate initiation of hospice services
- Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits on all new referrals and negotiates with third-party payers when appropriate including assisting to resolve difficult claims
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional education or certifications may be preferred).
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or a similar role is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and patience when working with seniors.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Basic computer skills for managing records and reservations.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures (CPR and First Aid certification may be required).
