About Pulo Coffee
We are a mobile specialty coffee catering company based in Los Angeles. We bring elevated specialty coffee cart experiences to brand activations, corporate events, and film production sets across LA & Southern California. We are a small team that holds itself to a high standard at every event and genuinely cares about the experience we create for every guest.
Who we are looking for
The Event Lead is the most important person at a Pulo Coffee event. You are the face of the brand on site, the person the client trusts, the person the team looks to, and the person responsible for making sure every event runs flawlessly from the moment the van is loaded to the moment it is unpacked back at the warehouse.
We hire for character as much as skill. Specifically we look for three things:
Hungry. You bring real effort to every shift. You prepare the night before without being asked. You anticipate problems before they happen and when something does not go as planned, because at events it always does, you stay calm, think on your feet, and find a way to make it work. You do not wait to be told what to do next.
Humble. You follow systems, take feedback well, and put the team and the client first. You check your ego at the door, follow the event brief precisely, and communicate concerns through the right channels at the right time.
People Smart. You read the room. You know how to talk to a nervous event coordinator, a skeptical client, and a guest who just wants their coffee. You communicate clearly with your team and make everyone around you feel steady even when things are not going perfectly.
If those three things describe you, keep reading.
The role
You will own every aspect of event execution from warehouse to breakdown. This is a hands-on logistics-heavy role that requires reliability, attention to detail, and the kind of ownership that does not need to be asked for.
Expect roughly 8 events per month. While service itself typically runs about 2 hours, full days run 8 to 12 hours including warehouse prep, travel, setup, and breakdown. We want you to know what you are signing up for and we think it is worth it.
Strong performers have a clear path to grow into a senior operations role as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Logistics and Setup: Load and transport the coffee cart and equipment in the company van, set up the full espresso system at the venue, and ensure water, power, and layout are ready before service begins
- Coffee Excellence: Dial in espresso before every service and maintain consistent drink quality from the first shot to the last. Latte art on every milk drink.
- Event Lead: Oversee and support the barista team, manage guest flow, communicate with event coordinators and clients on site, and give a 15 minute last call before service closes
- Operational Intelligence: Follow the event brief and setup checklist precisely and consistently for every event without exception. Complete post-event reports the same day
- Inventory and Restock: Track supplies before and after every event and communicate restock needs proactively
- Breakdown and Return: Break down the full setup, load the van, return to the warehouse, unload and restock, and leave everything event-ready for the next crew
- Ambassador: You represent Pulo Coffee at every event. Show up polished, professional, and personable
Qualifications
- Experience: Specialty coffee experience including high volume event or mobile service
- Technical Skill: Strong espresso fundamentals including independent shot dialing and milk steaming
- Latte Art: Tulip preferred, heart minimum. Clean and consistent art even when the line is long
- Leadership: Comfortable leading a small team and making real time decisions without supervision
- Physical Capability: Must be able to lift and move 65+ lbs and stand for the duration of long event days
- Driving: Valid California driver's license, clean driving record, and comfort driving a cargo van or similar large vehicle
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and available on weekends. Early call times starting as early as 5 or 6am are common. Must be comfortable taking on last minute events when they come up. In this business, things move fast and we need someone who can move with us.
- Transportation: Reliable personal vehicle, SUV or larger preferred
You must be based in the Los Angeles area. We are not able to consider applicants from Orange County, the Inland Empire, or other surrounding regions.
