Responsible for assisting the Power Technology instructor in supporting student learning and technical skill development in the areas of power equipment, engine repair, welding, fabrication, and related technologies. Provides instructional, laboratory, and safety support to help students prepare for post-secondary education, industry certifications, and careers in the skilled trades.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma or Equivalency required, associate degree preferred
· Current ASE Service Technician Certifications, preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· 3 years’ related work experience in the Mechanical Field, preferred
· Ability to manage time and be self-directed
· High level of confidentiality and professionalism
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Patience to work with diverse populations and language barriers
· Enthusiastic, Energetic, Positive, and Professional

ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Support students individually and in small groups during classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instructional activities
· Assist with the preparation, setup, organization, and cleanup of laboratory equipment, tools, materials, and instructional supplies
· Reinforce classroom instruction and safety expectations as directed by the instructor
· Monitor students during lab activities to promote safe and appropriate use of tools, equipment, and materials, including adherence to OSHA and shop safety procedures
· Assist with maintaining an organized, clean, and safe classroom and lab environment
· Support the instructor with grading, recordkeeping, inventory management, and preparation of instructional materials as assigned
· Ability to use technology to support learning and have the skills to research effectively and assist students with the use of educational technology, software programs, Google Applications, Microsoft Word/Excel, and other classroom technology tools
· Participate in student study sessions, workshops, tours, open houses, and other program-related activities
· Maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, local schools, and community partners
· Exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat/cold; and moderate to loud noise levels
· Public relations activities, including HATC tours and open houses
· Prepare for a substitute, if needed
· Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning
· Regular and consistent in-person attendance
· Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
· Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the supervisor
TERMS:
· School year calendar: 185 days with occasional summer hours - Monday - Friday - DAYS
· Per Huron Intermediate Support Staff Association (HISSA) Bargaining Agreement
· Fair Labor Standards Act (Non-Exempt)
