Apex handles customer acquisition, walkthroughs, estimating, scheduling, and customer communication. Contractors receive clearly defined assignments with the customer-approved scope, schedule, material responsibility, completion standards, and fixed payout provided before acceptance.
Position summary
Apex Maintenance Group is seeking experienced residential interior and exterior painters for homeowner, landlord, unit-turn, and property-management assignments.
This position is specifically focused on painting and surface preparation. Drywall repairs beyond minor nail holes and basic surface preparation will normally be assigned separately to an approved drywall contractor.
Qualified painters may receive assignments ranging from touchups and single-room repaints to occupied-home projects, rental turns, trim work, doors, ceilings, and full interior repaints.
Contractors may accept or decline each available assignment.

Responsibilities
- Review the full assignment before acceptance
- Confirm the required colors, sheen, surfaces, and number of coats
- Confirm who is responsible for purchasing paint and supplies
- Protect floors, fixtures, furniture, and adjacent surfaces
- Prepare surfaces according to the approved scope
- Complete the work to a consistent professional finish
- Upload required before, progress, and after photographs
- Notify Apex before performing additional preparation or repairs
- Maintain clean lines and consistent coverage
- Clean the work area and remove assigned materials
- Complete the task checklist before marking the assignment complete
- Correct workmanship issues for which you are responsible

Required qualifications
- Professional residential or commercial painting experience
- Strong surface-preparation skills
- Ability to cut clean lines and produce consistent coverage
- Experience painting walls, ceilings, doors, and trim
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Own brushes, rollers, extension poles, drop cloths, ladders, and standard tools
- Smartphone with reliable internet access
- Ability to upload clear progress and completion photographs
- Strong communication and punctuality
- Ability to work professionally in occupied and vacant properties
- General liability insurance or willingness to obtain coverage before activation
- W-9 and appropriate business information
- Willingness to complete a paid test assignment
- References or recent project photographs
- Applicable Michigan licensing or registration where required for the work performed

Operating standards
Apex contractors must:
- Perform only approved tasks
- Follow the written work-order scope
- Obtain approval before adding preparation, repairs, or extra coats
- Never change customer pricing independently
- Never collect payment directly from customers unless specifically authorized
- Never send an undisclosed subcontractor
- Protect customer property
- Upload required completion evidence
- Communicate delays, material shortages, and color issues immediately
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance
Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour
