Job Summary
As a Lab Collector, one must be able to effectively collect urine and swab samples from patients in a timely manner and perform clinical duties. We are seeking motivated individuals who show excellent communication skills. Must be able to problem-solve and multitask as we are a fast-paced practice. Gain skill and knowledge of organization policies and procedures in support of the department.
Responsibilities:
Triage patients to be seen by providers including rooming patients, taking vitals, merging patient charts, and communicating directly with patients. Collect the lab specimen, complete the lab requisition form and take patient signature. Report to office manager and/or practice administrator
Duties
- Collect and process specimens in accordance with the training and workflow.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of biological samples in accordance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations and laboratory protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during sample collection and processing.
- Manage specimen storage, transportation, and documentation within laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Follow laboratory's policies on patient confidentiality and clinical confidentiality policies at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff to ensure accurate data entry and specimen tracking.
- Assist with laboratory management tasks such as inventory control of supplies, equipment calibration, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical laboratory work, including specimen collection, processing, and biological sample management.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to clinical testing.
- Familiarity with laboratory management systems (LIS) for data entry and sample tracking.
- Knowledge of CLIA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and hospital safety standards including basic life support (BLS).
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to work efficiently in pediatric or veterinary environments if required; knowledge of veterinary terminology is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy under pressure while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
