Job Function
An opportunity to join a premier community college as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Primary responsibility will be to teach in the classroom, the lab & the other areas in alignment with objectives and outcomes for the department.
Job Responsibilities
- Teach predefined subject matter as assigned by the department.
- Maintain course materials in the College’s Learning Management System (LMS), including, but not limited to, announcement, syllabus, and gradebook.
- Keep gradebook up to date and submit final grades by published deadlines.
- Participate and actively cooperate with the department and Learning Unit to meet accreditation standards.
- Participate in course assessments that will accurately measure achievement of student learning outcomes as assigned.
- Complete training for various instructional delivery modalities as required.
- Maintain faculty credentials as required by the College’s accrediting agencies.
- Attend Faculty Development Days and/or Institutional Development Days as schedule permits.
- Participate in Learning Unit committees as schedule permits.
- Other duties as assigned in compliance with the AAFMCC collective bargaining agreement.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy plus OTRL or COTAL current state licensure and national registration required. Must have a minimum of two (2) or more years of current documented experience in the field. Documented expertise in teaching and advising in the transition from academia to clinical practice, service delivery as a credentialed, entry-level practitioner, role delineation and professional development, service advocacy, and the application of management principles to serve individuals, organizations, and communities in the current healthcare environment.
Experience and Qualifications
Current working knowledge of the skills involved in the service delivery of OT and the role of the OTA. This includes role delineation and professional responsibilities of service advocacy, management principles and ethics, service delivery to a variety of individuals and organizations in the current healthcare environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge base must include evidence-based research and practice, communications and inter-professional relationships, reimbursement issues and principles for managing change. Two or more years of current clinical experience, OTA supervision, and experience as a fieldwork educator Level I and II. OTRL or COTAL current state licensure and national registration required.
Working Hours and/or Working Conditions
HOURS: Macomb Community College offers daytime, evening, and Saturday classes. The position is to start (Winter 2026). Hours will be M-F (To be determined by department)
WORKING CONDITIONS: Courses include on campus, online, remote, hybrid, and/or flexible learning. Dependent on needs of the department.
Supervision
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Associate Dean, takes direction from department administration.
