Most video jobs want someone who can shoot golden hour.
We want someone who shows up after golden hour packs it in, when the sun’s gone, the crickets are running the show, and the only light left is the light we put there on purpose.
We’re a landscape lighting design-build studio. We don’t “light up” properties — we reveal them. Warm 2700K light, fixtures you’ll never see, shadow used as deliberately as brightness. Our work photographs like architecture, and honestly, most of it never gets captured the way it deserves to be. That’s the job we’re hiring for.
The catch (it’s a good one)
Night videography is genuinely hard. Autofocus gives up. Your phone turns everything into an orange smear. Half the people who own a nice camera have never shot below f/2.8 in real darkness and it shows.
So we’re paying to train you. Real, structured instruction in night photography and low-light cinematography — not a YouTube playlist and a pat on the back. We’re leveling this company up and we’d rather build the person than rent one.
You bring the eye and the work ethic. We’ll invest in the rest.
What you’ll actually do
- Shoot completed lighting installations at night — the reason the whole company exists
- Capture daytime/behind-the-scenes footage: installs, crews, before-and-afters, the dirt-under-the-fingernails part
- Edit and deliver social content, project films, and website video
- Work directly with our design and marketing team on what each piece needs to say
- Occasionally hold very still in someone’s backyard while their dog decides how it feels about you
What we’re looking for
- You can frame a shot without being told where to stand
- You know your way around an editing timeline (Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut — we’re not religious about it)
- You’re teachable. Ego optional. Curiosity mandatory.
- You’re available for evening shoots, because that’s when the work looks like the work
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to get to job sites across Long Island
- You understand that “good enough” and “good” are two different words
Nice to have: drone experience, color grading chops, motion graphics, a portfolio with at least one shot you’re quietly proud of.
Not required: a film degree, a $15,000 camera bag, or previous landscape lighting experience. We’ll handle the lighting. That part we’re extremely good at.

Compensation: [$25/hr]. Paid training included.
