Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform care planning.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and injection administration.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile processing when necessary.
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) like Epic or Cerner to document patient care activities meticulously and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals in acute care environments such as ICU, emergency room, trauma centers, and surgical units to coordinate patient treatment plans.
- Manage complex cases involving chronic conditions like cardiology, geriatrics, behavioral health, or infectious disease care while adhering to NCQA standards and ICD coding practices.
- Provide patient education on health coaching, medication management, discharge planning, and post-acute care instructions to promote recovery and wellness.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse settings such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care environments.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for documentation and order entry.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in performing critical procedures like airway management, ventilator support, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and aseptic technique.
- Experience with specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin treatment or esthetic laser procedures is a plus.
- Familiarity with trauma medicine (Level I/II Trauma Center experience), neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), or pediatric nursing (PICU experience).
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays across various age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and interdisciplinary collaboration in fast-paced emergency or urgent care settings.
