Sales & Business Development Intern
Michelle Kerfin State Farm Agency - Homer Glen, IL
Part-Time | Approximately 20 Hours/Week | $15/Hour + Bonus Opportunities
Looking for more than a typical internship?
The Michelle Kerfin State Farm Agency is looking for two energetic, fearless, and genuinely good people to join our team as part-time Sales & Business Development Interns.
This is a hands-on internship. You won't spend your time getting coffee or watching someone else work. You'll learn how to communicate with customers, generate opportunities, build relationships, market a local business, and become comfortable asking people to take the next step.
Most importantly, you'll learn how to pick up the phone, start conversations, follow a proven word track, overcome hesitation, and gain YESes.
What You'll Do:
Your primary responsibility will be making outbound calls to prospect and customer lists within our CRM.
You'll work closely with our sales team to create opportunities and schedule appointments. Your work will directly contribute to the growth of the agency.
You'll also have opportunities to:
- Call prospects using provided lists, systems, and word tracks
- Start conversations and identify potential insurance needs
- Generate qualified leads and appointments for our sales team
- Connect with existing customers to strengthen relationships
- Schedule customer review appointments by phone or Zoom
- Follow up consistently with prospects and customers
- Learn how to confidently handle objections and ask for the appointment
- Help with agency social media and marketing initiatives
- Participate in community events and agency activities
- Learn how a successful local business attracts, serves, and retains customers
Who We're Looking For:
Experience isn't the most important thing to us. Character, attitude, and willingness to learn are.
Our ideal intern is:
- A self-starter
- Intelligent and curious
- Caring and genuinely interested in people
- Outgoing and friendly
- Coachable
- Reliable
- Competitive and motivated
- Comfortable talking to people they don't know
- Willing to hear \"no\" without becoming discouraged
- Fearless enough to pick up the phone and try again
- Someone who brings positive energy to the people around them
You don't need to walk in knowing how to sell. We'll teach you. You do need to be willing to practice, follow a process, accept coaching, talk to a lot of people, and get better every week.
What You'll Gain:
This internship is designed to develop skills that will benefit you in almost any career:
Sales. Communication. Confidence. Relationship building. Marketing. Business development. Customer service. Goal setting. Resilience.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- $15/hour
- Additional bonus opportunities available
- Part-time schedule designed to work around college classes when possible
