The Bureau of Health is seeking a Quality Improvement Coach for its perinatal quality collaborative – the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative (LaPQC). The Improvement Coach position provides coaching support to LaPQC initiatives, programs and designation systems, across a variety of healthcare settings such as perinatal, neonatal, pediatric practices, emergency departments and freestanding birth centers.
This position is located within the state of Louisiana. Some travel will be required.
Responsibilities:
● Provide technical assistance and content expertise to LaPQC participating health care facilities throughout the state to support and guide quality improvement efforts.
● Serve as an expert quality improvement resource, educator, and mentor.
● Perform initial and on-going assessments of the status of quality improvement metrics within obstetric, neonatal, pediatric settings and other healthcare settings.
● Offer technical assistance to improvement teams on their quality improvement projects including identification of priorities and data measurement.
● Remain up to date on evidence-based practices related to the assigned quality improvement project to ensure accurate guidance for participating facility improvement teams.
● Ensure work is informed by an understanding of health equity and drivers of disparities in outcomes.
● Understand the literature associated with evidence-based practices and demonstrate ability to synthesize and communicate this literature, as appropriate, to key stakeholders.
● Facilitate well-organized and planned meetings with LaPQC participating health care facility improvement teams to ensure that quality improvement projects remain on-track and in progress.
● Understand the different types of data measurement and can assist LaPQC participating health care facility improvement teams with application to the identified quality improvement project.
● Act as a liaison between the LaPQC participating health care facility improvement teams and Bureau of Family Health and LaPQC leadership.
● Assist with the development and implementation of team projects.
● Assist with the planning and execution of collaborative learning activities, including in-person and virtual meetings and conferences.
● Communicate with providers, hospital leaders, nurse leaders, and clinic and birthing center staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Degree in nursing with obstetric, NICU, or pediatric experience or other healthcare professionals.
● Demonstrated success working in teams.
● High-quality verbal and written communication skills.
● Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google suite applications.
● A process- and improvement-oriented mindset.
● At least 5 years of experience working within or with healthcare settings and providers with perinatal and/or neonatal experience preferred.
● Understanding of key issues related to health equity and disparity.
● Skilled at creating and presenting content to large audiences.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
● Previous experience in any one of the following health care settings: perinatal, neonatal, pediatric practices, emergency departments and free-standing birth centers.
● Demonstrated proficiency in quality improvement strategies including Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) cycles and data collection.
● National certification in related areas of expertise.
Monitoring Plan:
● Work products will be reviewed for timeliness, quality, innovation, and substantive impact.
● The Bureau of Family Health (BFH) Clinical Systems and Programs Team Lead or designee will monitor.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $71,677.00 - $100,443.00 per year

Experience:
