We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Miami, FL.
We are searching for a true Payroll Specialist whose primary career focus has been payroll processing and payroll administration. The ideal candidate will have experience processing payroll for 500+ employees across multiple states and working in a high-volume environment. Experience with tipped employees, hospitality payroll, restaurants, hotels, cruise lines, or other service-based industries is highly preferred.
IMPORTANT: This is NOT an HR position. Candidates whose experience is primarily Human Resources, Recruiting, Employee Relations, Benefits Administration, Talent Acquisition, or General HR Management will not be considered. We are specifically seeking candidates with substantial hands-on payroll processing experience.
Responsibilities:
- Process high-volume payroll accurately and on time
- Manage multi-state payroll processing and compliance
- Review payroll data, timekeeping records, earnings, deductions, bonuses, commissions, garnishments, and tax withholdings
- Process payroll for hourly, salaried, and tipped employees
- Calculate and audit tip reporting, tip allocations, and payroll adjustments when applicable
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and payroll-related reports
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries
- Process new hires, terminations, promotions, and payroll changes
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Assist with quarterly and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing
- Work closely with Accounting and Finance teams regarding payroll reporting and reconciliations
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of direct, hands-on payroll processing experience
- Experience processing payroll for 500+ employees
- Multi-state payroll experience required
- Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, wage garnishments, deductions, and payroll compliance
- Experience with payroll reconciliations and payroll reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with UKG, ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, Paylocity, or similar payroll systems
- Experience supporting multi-location operations
- Experience in hospitality, restaurants, hotels, cruise lines, staffing, healthcare, or other high-volume payroll environments
- Experience processing tipped payroll and calculating tip allocations, tip credits, and tip reporting requirements
- Experience with payroll audits, tax filings, and year-end processing
- CPP Certification is a plus
- Accounting or Finance background is a plus
