A powersports part sales associate serves as the primary technical and sales link between a dealership's inventory and its customers or service technicians. This role typically requires a blend of mechanical aptitude, proficiency in dealer management software like Lightspeed or CDK, and strong interpersonal skills.

Primary Responsibilities
The role encompasses customer service, technical diagnostics, and inventory management:
- Customer & Technical Support: Assist retail and wholesale clients in identifying correct parts for motorcycles, ATVs, and Side-by-Sides using OEM catalogs and digital diagrams.
- Inventory Control: Receive, label, and stock incoming shipments while maintaining a clean and organized showroom display.
- Service Department Coordination: Collaborate with service technicians to ensure parts are available for scheduled repairs, helping to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Sales & Ordering: Process transactions, manage special orders for out-of-stock items, and upsell complementary accessories such as riding gear or performance upgrades.
Requirements & Qualifications
Most powersports dealerships seek candidates with the following profile:
- Experience: Typically 1–3 years in parts retail or a related service role; dealership experience is often preferred.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of powersports systems (engines, drivetrains) and ability to use computerized Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and navigate busy service areas safely.
- Administrative: High school diploma or GED; background checks and a valid driver's license are standard requirements.
