About the Role
Barr Cleaners is seeking a skilled and professional Alteration Specialist to join our team on-site for a minimum of two days per week. We are looking for an expert who takes pride in their craftsmanship and enjoys interacting directly with clients to ensure a perfect fit every time.
In this role, you will be the face of our alteration services, handling everything from basic hems to complex structural garment changes across all types of clothing. Prior experience working at a dry cleaner's front counter or managing day-to-day store operations is a strong bonus!
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Fittings: Provide professional, on-site fittings for customers in our dedicated fitting area. Accurately pin and mark garments while advising clients on the best way to achieve their desired look and fit.
- Expert Alterations: Perform high-quality alterations on various fabrics and garment types, including formal wear, business attire, denim, and outerwear.
- Quality Control: Ensure all finished work meets Barr Cleaners' high standards of excellence and is completed within the agreed-upon timeframe.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure sewing machinery is kept in good working order.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Alteration Specialist, Tailor, or Seamstress.
- Expert knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and sewing techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to make customers feel comfortable and confident during fittings.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
- Ability to work independently on-site for the duration of the shift.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Preferred: Prior experience in dry cleaning customer service, counter reception, or garment store operations is a major plus.
