Overview
At Spire Therapeutics, we are developing next-generation noninvasive neuromodulation technologies for the treatment of brain disorders using focused ultrasound. Our systems integrate advanced acoustics, neuronavigation, medical imaging, and embedded control software into a clinical therapy platform intended for deployment across major clinical sites.
We are currently expanding our software capabilities as we transition from research-grade systems toward scalable clinical and commercial deployment.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Software Engineer to help professionalize and scale the control software and graphical user interface (GUI) for our focused ultrasound neuromodulation platform, DIADEM.
This role spans desktop application development, medical imaging workflows, algorithm validation, and regulated medical device software verification and validation (V&V). The ideal candidate is comfortable operating across both research and production software environments and can help convert sophisticated prototype systems into robust clinical software tools.
Responsibilities
Desktop Application & GUI Development
- Professionalize and improve the existing MATLAB-based control software and GUI for the DIADEM neuromodulation platform
- Improve and package the existing MATLAB application into a stable deployable desktop application
- Migrate portions or all of the software stack into a modern desktop application framework
- Improve software architecture, maintainability, reliability, and deployment workflows
Medical Imaging & Neuronavigation Algorithms
- Assist with testing, refinement, and validation of MRI-free neuronavigation algorithms
- Work with computer vision and image-processing pipelines using smartphone camera images for anatomical registration and targeting
- Support development and debugging of imaging workflows, registration pipelines, and calibration procedures
Medical Device Software Verification & Validation
- Help establish scalable software engineering and testing practices suitable for clinical deployment
Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong software engineering background in desktop applications, scientific computing, or medical systems
- Experience with MATLAB development
- Experience developing deployable desktop applications using one or more of:
- MATLAB App Designer / MATLAB Compiler
- Python (PyQt, PySide, etc.)
- C++
- C#
- Electron or similar desktop frameworks
- Experience with image processing and/or computer vision
- Strong debugging and software architecture skills
- Experience working with hardware-integrated software systems
Additional Preferred Experience
- Medical device software experience
- Familiarity with regulated development environments (FDA, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, etc.)
- Experience with:
- MRI or medical imaging data
- Camera calibration or computer vision pipelines
- Scientific visualization
- Numerical optimization
- Signal processing
- Experience building robust GUI workflows for technical or clinical users
Education
- BS, MS, or PhD in:

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
