Responsibilities
- Safely operate CDL A tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles, including flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, and dump trucks, following all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Plan and execute route driving using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery schedules and ensure timely arrivals.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment when necessary, ensuring cargo is secure and compliant with hazardous materials regulations if applicable.
- Handle logistics cargo with precision, managing freight movement efficiently while maintaining safety standards for dangerous goods or hazardous materials.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before hitting the road.
- Load, secure, and unload cargo accurately, demonstrating expertise in handling various types of freight such as roll-off containers or tanker loads.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating manual transmission vehicles preferred.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, and hazardous materials handling procedures.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations; forklift certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling processes and safety protocols for dangerous goods.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service.
