Overview
We are seeking a motivated Junior or Associate Immigration Attorney to join our growing practice. This is a hybrid position based in Washington State, with regular in-person appearances required at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma and the Seattle Immigration Court. Attorneys should expect their schedule to shift day-to-day based on hearing calendars, client visits, and case needs — some days will be fully remote, most will require travel to the detention center or court.
This role is a strong fit for an attorney who is client-centered, adaptable, ambitious, and eager to learn about immigration advocacy, including detained and non-detained removal defense.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Seattle Immigration Court, including merits hearings and master calendar hearings
- Conduct client visits and consultations at the Tacoma detention facility
- Represent clients in bond hearings
- Manage a caseload spanning asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, and other humanitarian forms of relief
- Draft and file motions, briefs, applications, and supporting legal documents, including federal court pleadings
- Maintain a willingness to learn new areas of immigration law
- Communicate directly and effectively with Spanish-speaking clients and their families
- Stay current on evolving immigration law, agency guidance, and case law affecting client matters
- Collaborate with attorneys and administrative staff on case strategy and deadlines
- Maintain accurate case files and meet all filing and court deadlines
- Maintain high ethical standards
- Maintain and contribute to a respectful work environment with co-workers and clients
Qualifications
- J.D. and active license to practice law (Bar admission from any state or eligibility to appear under applicable rules)
- Minimum 1 year of experience practicing immigration law; 2–3 years strongly preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish required — a significant portion of our client base is Spanish-speaking only
- Experience with removal defense, detained representation, or EOIR practice is a plus
- Must reside in Washington State and be available to travel to Tacoma and Seattle as needed
- Strong writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a demanding, fast-moving caseload with professionalism and compassion
- Flexibility and adaptability to change
- Strong work ethic and ambition to become a top-tier immigration attorney
Schedule & Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid role. Attorneys will work remotely on days without hearings or client visits, and in-person when court appearances or detention center visits are required. Schedules can vary week to week based on the immigration court calendar and client needs, so flexibility is essential.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $110,000–$130,000 annually, commensurate with experience
- We value a healthy work-life balance and are committed to a collaborative team environment to achieve this.
- Health and wellness benefits
- 401(k)
- Bonus/Incentives: Reviewed and awarded on a quarterly basis
- Paid Time Off: including vacation, sick leave, and holidays
