We are looking for a dependable, energetic, and experienced Program Manager to lead daily program operations at our Fremont school site and help ensure an exceptional experience for students, families, school partners, and staff.
Position Overview:
The Program Manager will initially oversee the daily operations of SAS programs at Blacow Elementary School in Fremont, California. This role is responsible for ensuring the site is safe, staffed, organized, compliant, and aligned with SAS program standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who enjoys working in a school environment, supporting staff, communicating with families, solving problems in real time, and creating a positive culture for students. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for youth development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations for before-school and after-school programming, ensuring programs run safely, smoothly, and according to SAS standards.
- Serve as the primary on-site leader for staff, students, families, and school partners.
- Supervise, coach, and support instructors, site staff, and other assigned team members.
- Ensure staff understand and follow SAS curriculum, attendance procedures, behavior expectations, safety protocols, site routines, and school partner requirements.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and solution-oriented presence with students, parents, school personnel, SAS leadership, and community stakeholders.
- Conduct regular site evaluations and provide feedback to improve program quality and staff performance.
- Support student engagement through high-quality enrichment activities, including STEM, sports, arts, academic support, and structured recreation.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with parents, school staff, and SAS leadership regarding program updates, incidents, staffing needs, and student concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including attendance records, incident reports, staff notes, program observations, and other required records.
- Support staffing coordination, schedules, coverage planning, and operational readiness.
- Assist with onboarding, training, coaching, and performance support for program staff.
- Ensure compliance with SAS policies, school district requirements, mandated reporting obligations, health and safety expectations, and applicable laws.
- Represent SAS positively during school meetings, family communication, community events, and partner interactions.
- Support additional program needs, school-site priorities, and reasonable duties assigned by SAS leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, Recreation, Child Development, Sports Management, Physical Education, Program Management, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in after-school programs, expanded learning, youth development, education, recreation, camps, or school-based programming.
- Previous experience supervising, coaching, or leading staff.
- Strong ability to build relationships with school partners, families, students, and team members.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced school-site environment.
- Strong judgment, professionalism, and reliability.
- Comfortable working directly with K–12 students and supporting positive behavior expectations.
- Ability to work in person at the assigned Fremont school site.
- Must be able to complete all required onboarding and school-site compliance requirements, including background check, fingerprinting, TB clearance, mandated reporter training, and any additional requirements set by SAS or school partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluent bilingual (English + Spanish) speaker preferred
- Experience managing before-school, after-school, ASES, ELO-P, camp, enrichment, or school-based youth programs.
- Experience with STEM, sports, arts, academic support, structured recreation, or social-emotional learning programs.
- Knowledge of school-site operations, student safety procedures, attendance tracking, incident reporting, and family communication.
- Experience leading teams in a K–12 or youth development setting.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
Schedule
This is a part-time, in-person role based on school-site and program needs. The current expected schedule includes Monday through Friday coverage for morning and afternoon program operations. Hours may vary based on school schedules, meetings, training, staffing needs, student coverage, family events, and operational priorities.
