Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Finance to lead our financial operations with energy and precision. This pivotal role involves overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and guiding fiscal planning to support our mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach, strong leadership skills, and expert knowledge of accounting principles to drive sustainable growth and financial health.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Oversee all aspects of financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control to maximize resource efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), IAS (International Accounting Standards), and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage corporate accounting functions such as general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, and financial statement preparation.
- Conduct risk analysis and develop risk management strategies to safeguard organizational assets.
- Supervise treasury management activities including cash flow analysis, investment management, and banking relationships.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, interpret financial data for leadership, and support strategic planning initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in corporate finance, governmental accounting, or non-profit accounting with a strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
- Extensive knowledge of financial concepts such as profit & loss analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and account analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, interpretation, and compliance management using IFRS, GAAP, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency with financial software systems for bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, and account reconciliation processes.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide teams through complex financial projects while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Excellent analytical skills in risk assessment, cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; advanced certifications such as CPA or CMA are preferred.
- Experience in a financial role with multiple funding sources including government (federal and state) grants and contracts.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Title 2 of the Federal regulations, also known as the "Uniform Guidance" - consists of Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
- Must be well versed in Abila/MIP accounting software.
