We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Handbell Choir Director to lead and inspire our church’s handbell ensemble. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to cultivate musical excellence, foster spiritual growth, and create uplifting worship experiences through the art of handbell ringing. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep appreciation for praise and worship music, and the ability to guide musicians of varying skill levels in a collaborative and faith-centered environment. As the Handbell Choir Director, you will play a vital role in enriching our community’s spiritual life through engaging musical performances that resonate with our congregation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Commitment to Jesus Christ with a heart that is able to identify with the various members of the congregation and the handbell choir and to minister to them
2. Ability to assist the handbell choir to become a caring, praying, loving, mutually supportive religious community which is organized to offer praise to God
3. Musical talent to direct and lead the handbell music ministry and those people involved in such a way as to enhance and expand their talents in the offering of Christian music
4. Knowledge of and training in Christian music with the ability to help the music team enhance and develop worship services through an understanding of Christian music and the liturgical traditions of the church
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To help fulfill the mission of the church through music ministry and worship services
2. To lead the Handbell Choir in its music responsibilities within the life of the church
3. To collaborate with the Director of Music in selecting handbell music for regular worship services, usually once a month, September through May, and for special Advent/Christmas and Holy Week/Easter services.
4. To train the Handbell Choir members in the proper techniques and the music capabilities of handbell and wind chime ringing
5. To direct the Handbell Choir in rehearsals every other week from September through May and in worship services as scheduled in consultation with the Director of Music and the Senior Pastor
6. To lead the recruitment of Handbell Choir members
7. To select and purchase music for the Handbell Choir as necessary in consultation with the Director of Music
8. To train and supervise the ringers in the proper maintenance and care of the handbells and wind chimes
