We’re looking for a Director of Preconstruction to lead our estimating and preconstruction operations in Charlotte. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing multiple preconstruction managers, guiding project budgeting and design development, and maintaining strong relationships with architects, developers, and clients.

What makes you stand out?

6+ years of commercial construction estimating or preconstruction experience
-
4-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

Strong knowledge of commercial construction pricing, budgeting, and estimating practices

Experience managing multiple projects during the design and preconstruction phases
-
Ability to build relationships with architects, engineers, developers, and clients

Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and manage preconstruction staff

Proficiency with estimating software, project management platforms, and digital takeoff tools

Excellent communication, organization, and strategic planning abilities

A reputation for accuracy, professionalism, and building trusted client relationships
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leading and managing the preconstruction and estimating team

Overseeing budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed cost proposals

Collaborating with architects and design teams during the design development process

Developing value engineering solutions that balance cost, schedule, and design intent

Managing multiple preconstruction efforts simultaneously across various project types

Building and maintaining strong relationships with architects, developers, and key clients

Reviewing drawings, specifications, and scopes to ensure accurate pricing and risk evaluation

Working closely with project managers and operations to ensure smooth transition from preconstruction to construction

Developing subcontractor relationships and coordinating trade partner pricing

Supporting business development efforts through client meetings, proposals, and presentations

Continuously improving estimating systems, pricing databases, and internal processes
