We are looking for individuals with intermediate to expert level experience in the pharmacy technician field paired with a stable employment history. No compounding experience is required. Pharmacy Technician (Order Fulfillment) Job Responsibilities at Northwest Compounders
Order fulfillment (not associated with compounding) is the primary function (90% or more) of the Pharmacy Technician Order Fulfillment role at Northwest Compounders.
Secondary functions (10% or less) of the Pharmacy Technician Order Fulfillment role at Northwest Compounders include the following: restocking drawers and pharmacy areas with supplies (bottles, syringes, chemicals, etc.), washing dishes, sweeping, moping, lifting floor mats, taking out the trash, vacuuming, restocking paper products, laundering and folding pharmacy laundry (towels, lab coats, etc.), prepare shipping labels, attend regular team meetings, and assist lab supervisors and pharmacists with any special request (projects, task, etc.).
Successfully fulfilling an order requires several steps some of which require low, low/moderate, and sometimes moderate physical effort, specifically using fingers, hands, wrists, forearms, arms and shoulders. Completion of these steps is fairly continuous but alternates back and forth between varying levels of physical effort throughout the order fulfillment process.
Tasks or functions that require physical effort include all of the following: lifting and moving containers of up to 20lbs in weight (the vast majority of containers are less than 10 pounds), standing in place for the full shift duration (when not walking), not including break and lunch time, walking intermittently back and forth in the production/lab area; occasionally bending at the knee and the waist to clean work areas and other shared areas in the pharmacy and to access supplies in cabinets/drawers, etc.; continually using fingers, hands, wrists, forearms, manipulate liquids (pour, draw up in syringes, etc.) and any other activity not previously mentioned that takes place during the course of order fulfillment that specifically requires continual use of the fingers, hands, wrists, forearms, arms and shoulders; work area cleaning activities that include reaching, wiping, scrubbing, polishing; labeling activities that include cutting with scissors, marking dosing syringes, altering bottle caps to make them “EZ” open and others.
Opportunities for Advancement
Order fulfillment technicians with good performance in: attendance at work, time clock adherence, fulfillment accuracy and fulfilment efficiency will be eligible for promotion to compounding technician after a period of 6 months (1040 tenure hours). Upon promotion to compounding technician, technicians are provided with full compounding training. Compounding technicians have no current wage cap and have opportunities for premium pay ($4/hr on top of regular wage) when serving on the following teams: Hazardous Compounding Team, Training Team, Sterile Team. Promotion to compounding technician and the beginning of the training cycle for compounding technician pivots on the availability of the training team to take on a new compounding technician trainee.
