Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Body Shop Mechanic to lead our body shop team while actively participating in vehicle repairs. This role requires a skilled individual who can balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on repair work, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and customer satisfaction are consistently met. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in collision repair, the ability to lead by example, and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform collision repair tasks, including dent removal, panel replacement, refinishing, and structural repairs
- Use industry-standard tools and equipment to complete high-quality repairs efficiently
- Ensure all repairs meet safety and quality standards set by the company and industry
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct thorough inspections of repairs, including your own, to ensure they meet high-quality standards
Quotes and Estimates:
- Prepare accurate repair estimates for customers and insurance companies
- Explain repair needs, timelines, and costs to customers in a clear and professional manner
- Work with insurance adjusters and parts suppliers to finalize estimates and repair plans
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in auto body repair, including structural and cosmetic repairs
- Knowledge of collision repair processes, tools, and materials
- Proficiency with estimating software such as CCC ONE or Mitchell
- Communication and interpersonal skills to work with team members, customers, and insurance adjusters
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASE or I-CAR certification(s) in collision repair or estimating
- Previous experience as a body shop technician or estimator in a body shop
- Familiarity with insurance claims processes and estimating systems
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and commitment to workplace safety
