Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Position is located at Osawatomie State Hospital, days/hours may vary. This position may require you to work weekends. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.

The purpose of the Technology Support Consultant II is to provide is advanced technical work advising and assisting computer users in solving problems in a distributed computing environment. Work includes installation of hardware and software, troubleshooting, configuring client server-based application software for LAN, server hardware, operating systems and application systems in a WAN environment. Additionally, this position is expected to engage in routine educational opportunities to expand their general IT knowledge and understanding of the agencies IT environment.
The essential functions of this position require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Must be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.
Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: Provides physical therapy services to patients at Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) to promote optimal physical functioning, mobility, safety, independence, and quality of life. Evaluates, develops, and implements individualized treatment plans for patients with a wide range of psychiatric, neurological, musculoskeletal, and medical conditions. Services include assessment and treatment of mobility limitations, gait abnormalities, balance deficits, strength and endurance impairments, pain management, fall prevention, positioning needs, and functional rehabilitation.
The Physical Therapist serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, rehabilitation staff, social services, and other disciplines to support patient recovery and discharge planning. Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, recommending adaptive equipment and mobility aids, assisting with wheelchair and seating evaluations, educating staff and patients on safe mobility techniques, and promoting a safe therapeutic environment.
The Physical Therapist also participates in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and consultation regarding patient mobility, safe patient handling, fall prevention, and rehabilitation needs. Documentation is completed in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards of practice.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registration/temporary permits to practice as a Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Kansas

Must be able to assist in the transferring of individuals
-
Must be able to communicate with clients with the medium that the clients can express, i.e. voice, body language, or subtle head or hand gestures.

Must take and pass a pre-employment drug screening test
-
Must pass a criminal background check
-
Must stay current on CPR certification; OSH Risk Management and Emergency Preparedness; Infection Control; Fire Safety procedures and proper lifting techniques.
Preferred Qualifications that may be used to screen applicants:

2 years of experience providing physical therapy services to people with wide range of chronic and acute health conditions as a Licensed Physical Therapist
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services must pass a criminal background check.
