Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Specimen Collector for collecting, handling, and processing samples for drug and/or alcohol testing in accordance with established protocols and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in laboratory techniques, clinical procedures, and specimen management, ensuring accurate collection and processing of biological samples. As a specimen collector, you will play a vital role in supporting diagnostic and research activities by adhering to strict safety and quality standards, utilizing advanced laboratory skills, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. Key Responsibilities
- Collect specimens following proper chain-of-custody procedures
- Verify donor identity and complete required documentation accurately
- Explain collection procedures to donors and ensure compliance with testing requirements
- Maintain integrity and security of all specimens from collection through transport
- Label, package, and prepare specimens for shipment to designated laboratories
- Monitor and document specimen temperature and appearance when required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant collection area
- Follow all applicable federal, state, and company guidelines for drug and alcohol testing
- Handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality
- Report any irregularities, refusals, or issues during the collection process
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous healthcare, lab, or collection experience preferred (but not always required)
- Completion of specimen collector training/certification preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
Work Environment
- Clinical, office, or mobile testing environments
- May require standing for extended periods
- Interaction with a diverse range of clients
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, and move as needed during collections
- Ability to handle and transport specimen containers safely
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- May be required to pass background check and/or drug screening
- Flexible schedule may be required, including evenings or weekends
Pay: $19.00 per hour
