Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and executing personalized care plans for patients across various settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and home health visits.
- Implement therapeutic interventions including trigger point therapy, manual therapy techniques, and mobility exercises to promote healing and restore function.
- Monitor patient progress, document responses to treatment, and communicate updates to the supervising therapist to ensure optimal care adjustments.
- Support discharge planning efforts by preparing patients for transition from hospital or facility to home or other care environments.
- Educate patients and their families on physiotherapy exercises, injury prevention strategies, and post-treatment care routines.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments administered, patient responses, and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all therapy sessions to prevent injury and promote a positive healing environment.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience working in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and physiotherapy techniques including trigger point therapy.
- Familiarity with care plans tailored for orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, and acute care populations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to support comprehensive patient care and discharge planning.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients and coordinate with healthcare providers effectively.
- Prior experience with clinic-based therapies such as outpatient orthopedics or geriatrics is highly desirable.
