Mobile Veterinary Assistant / Veterinary Technician
The Soothing Vet is a compassionate mobile veterinary practice providing in-home medical care for cats and dogs throughout the South Houston area.
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and motivated Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to support the veterinarian during in-home appointments.
The selected candidate will meet the veterinarian at a designated starting location and drive a company-provided vehicle throughout the workday. A personal vehicle will not be used for client visits, and the employee will not be responsible for fuel costs.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care during in-home veterinary visits
- Administer cold laser therapy under the veterinarian’s direction
- Collect blood samples and place intravenous catheters
- Obtain and document patient vital signs
- Safely restrain cats and dogs
- Assist with diagnostics and sample collection
- Prepare medications and supplies
- Support medical record documentation
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients
- Organize, clean, and maintain medical equipment and supplies
- Help maintain an efficient mobile appointment workflow
- Anticipate the veterinarian’s needs throughout the workday
- Assist with community events and low-cost veterinary clinics
- Help with event setup and takedown
- Capture photos or videos for social media with client permission
- Perform light administrative duties, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, contacting clients, and assisting with follow-up communications
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to take initiative without constant direction. This person should be comfortable working inside clients’ homes, communicating with pet owners, handling cats and dogs, and adapting quickly in a fast-paced mobile environment.
Strong time-management skills, professionalism, and the ability to anticipate appointment needs are essential.
This is a part-time and/or on-call position.
We are considering both veterinary assistants and veterinary technicians. Compensation will be based on experience, clinical skills, education, and credentials. Higher compensation is available for experienced or licensed veterinary technicians.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
