Classroom Assistant
Reports To: Classroom Guide (Teacher) and Campus Principal
Employment Status: Full-Time or Part-Time, Hourly
Position Summary
The Classroom Assistant serves alongside the Classroom Guide to help create a safe, joyful, organized, and Christ-centered learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Classroom Assistants are much more than helpers—they are trusted members of the educational team who build meaningful relationships with students, support classroom instruction, encourage positive behavior, and help ensure that each day runs smoothly. They play an important role in helping students feel seen, valued, and successful while allowing the Classroom Guide to focus on high-quality instruction.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build positive, encouraging relationships with students.
- Assist students individually or in small groups under the direction of the Classroom Guide.
- Encourage student independence while providing appropriate support.
- Reinforce classroom expectations and routines with consistency and kindness.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day.
Classroom Support
- Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Help organize classroom supplies and learning spaces.
- Set up and clean up activities throughout the day.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized classroom environment.
- Assist with bulletin boards, displays, and classroom organization.
Behavior & Relationship Support
- Model Christ-like love, patience, and respect.
- Encourage positive student behavior.
- Help redirect students with grace and consistency.
- Support Beacon's philosophy of connection before correction.
- Work collaboratively with the Classroom Guide in implementing classroom management strategies.
Daily Operations
- Assist with arrival, dismissal, transitions, recess, lunch, and specials.
- Help monitor student safety throughout the day.
- Support bathroom breaks and other age-appropriate student needs.
- Assist with classroom communication and administrative tasks as requested.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Classroom Guide to meet student needs.
- Communicate observations regarding student progress or concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development as assigned.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting other classrooms or school needs when necessary.
Qualifications
- A genuine love for children.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Willingness to learn and receive coaching.
- High school diploma required; college coursework or experience working with children preferred.
