Position Summary
The Project Executive serves as the senior operational leader responsible for the overall execution, financial performance, client satisfaction, and strategic leadership of a major DoD construction program.
This role provides executive oversight throughout the entire project lifecycle—from preconstruction through final closeout—while ensuring every phase is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Project Executive will lead multidisciplinary project teams, develop future leaders, foster strong client partnerships, and ensure every decision aligns with Metcon's mission, vision, and EPIC² values.
Primary ResponsibilitiesExecutive Leadership
- Lead the execution of a billion-dollar federal construction program.
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing project management and field leadership teams.
- Establish project goals, expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Resolve complex project challenges while maintaining positive client relationships.
Client & Business Development
- Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with DoD agencies, owners, architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Identify future business opportunities within the federal marketplace.
- Represent Metcon during presentations, industry conferences, and networking events.
- Support strategic growth initiatives and strengthen Metcon's presence in the federal construction market.
Operational Excellence
- Provide executive oversight of:
- Preconstruction
- Procurement
- Scheduling
- Budget Management
- Risk Management
- Contract Administration
- Change Management
- Quality Assurance
- Project Controls
- Project Closeout
- Ensure project milestones, budgets, and client expectations are consistently achieved.
Financial Management
- Maintain overall financial health of assigned projects.
- Lead forecasting, cost control, cash flow management, and profitability initiatives.
- Monitor project performance through executive dashboards and key performance indicators.
- Drive proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Safety Leadership
- Champion Metcon's safety-first culture.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, USACE, NAVFAC, and all applicable federal safety standards.
- Promote continuous safety improvement across all project operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible commercial or federal construction experience.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale projects exceeding $250M+ (experience on billion-dollar programs preferred).
- Strong understanding of Design-Build, CM at Risk, and negotiated delivery methods.
- Experience managing multiple Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff.
- Proven leadership in federal, military, mission-critical, healthcare, aviation, industrial, or large commercial construction.
