A premier, full-service hotel property in the historic coastal destination of Charleston, SC is seeking an experienced Director of Sales & Marketing to lead its sales, catering, and revenue-generation strategies. Overseeing a large property with significant event space, this key leadership role will drive top-line market performance, spearhead strategic positioning, and mentor an established, high-performing sales team. Position Responsibilities
- Drive total property top-line revenue across rooms, food and beverage, and event space, maximizing RevPAR Index and market share performance.
- Develop, execute, and monitor comprehensive sales, marketing, and revenue strategies tailored to key market segments, including Group, Corporate, SMERF, Military, and Leisure.
- Directly lead, mentor, and coach a dynamic sales and catering team, fostering a high-performance culture and driving individual sales goal achievement.
- Own the annual sales budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and departmental expense management to ensure strong financial alignment and operating efficiency.
- Spearhead strategic client engagement and active selling, expanding corporate accounts, deepening local community partnerships, and expanding brand visibility.
- Collaborate closely with revenue management and property leadership to navigate market conditions, optimize rate strategies, and drive yield across all revenue channels.
Position Requirements
- 3+ years as a Director of Sales & Marketing or multi-unit DOSM for full-service hotels with at least 20mil in top-line revenue and substantial meeting/event space.
- Deep experience in group sales segmentation (Corporate, SMERF, Military, and Leisure) within full-service hospitality operations.
- Ability to meet personal sales goals while also mentoring/leading a large sales team
- Brand experience with major full-service hotel networks (Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt strongly preferred).
- Prior experience managing sales strategy through property remodels or renovations is a significant plus.
- Strong business acumen, financial expertise in budgeting and forecasting, and excellent strategic communication skills.
Compensation Package Details
- Competitive base salary of $135,000 – $140,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Up to 25% performance bonus potential, paid semi-annually
