The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is seeking applicants to perform duties primarily as an LEHP or LEHP in Training. These duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Ability to interpret and apply complex federal, state, and local laws in different environmental health programs
- Assist in emergency response efforts and food-borne disease investigation
- Attend seminars, workshops, and educational trainings related to environmental health activities
- Conduct preliminary and final inspections of food service establishments, private wells, private sewage disposal systems, and non-hazardous solid waste management sites relative to applicable laws, rules and regulations
- Develop and distribute post-inspection reports to relevant stakeholders
- Investigate complaint-driven public health nuisances
- Provides consultation and education to organizational owners and contractors regarding applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Perform vector surveillance and environmental sampling
The work assigned to this position may not include all possible tasks in this description and does not limit the assignment of any additional tasks for this position.
This position is covered under the Laborers Union.
Required Qualifications:
- A valid Class D Illinois Driver’s License
- Applicants must be a resident of Sangamon County or be willing to move into the County within 6 months of employment.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health o OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 30 hours of Applied Sciences
- On occasions and in the event of a public health emergency, this position may be required to work evening and/or weekends
Desirable Qualifications:
- Prior experience in Environmental Health o OR experience in Public Health
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficient in foreign language
- Strong oral and written abilities
