Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Project Manager to support our Project Managers in delivering exceptional custom homes from start to finish. This role is ideal for someone who has construction experience (trade experience welcomed) and is ready to grow their career in residential project management.
The Assistant Project Manager plays a critical role in keeping projects moving efficiently. This position is more field-focused and labor-intensive than a Project Manager role and requires strong attention to detail, proactive communication, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed to support the team.
You will work closely with the Project Manager, trade partners, inspectors, vendors, and internal team members to ensure schedules stay on track, quality standards are upheld, and clients have a seamless experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Support the Project Lifecycle:
Assist the Project Manager in managing each phase of construction from start to finish, helping keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality standards.
- Field Coordination & Site Support:
Be regularly present on job sites to support daily operations, verify work progress, coordinate trades, and help maintain organization and cleanliness.
- Schedule & Trade Coordination:
Assist in scheduling trades, confirming timelines, and ensuring materials and labor are aligned with project milestones.
- Quality Assurance Support:
Conduct walkthroughs and quality checks, identify issues early, and communicate findings to the Project Manager for resolution.
- Vendor & Inspector Coordination:
Help coordinate inspections, meet with vendors, and follow up to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Documentation & Systems Management:
Maintain accurate records in Buildertrend, track updates, assist with change order documentation, and support communication between field and office teams.
- Client Interaction Support:
Participate in client meetings and walkthroughs as needed, helping ensure a high-touch, world-class client experience.
- Problem Solving & Follow-Through:
Identify potential issues before they escalate and proactively assist in resolving them.
- Take on Additional Tasks as Assigned:
Be flexible and willing to support wherever needed to keep projects moving forward.
About You:
- Construction Experience Preferred:
You have experience in residential construction, whether through a trade, field role, or construction management background. A degree in construction management is a plus but not required.
Able to read and understand residential construction plans.
- Hands-On & Detail-Oriented:
You’re comfortable being in the field, walking jobs regularly, and ensuring details are executed correctly.
Willing to take initiative, follow through on tasks, and support the team in a physically active, fast-paced environment.
You can juggle multiple tasks, anticipate needs, and stay ahead of deadlines.
Comfortable communicating with trades, vendors, team members, and occasionally clients in a professional and respectful manner.
Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and project management software. Buildertrend experience is a plus.
Eager to learn, develop leadership skills, and grow into a Project Manager role over time.
