Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain and improve patient oral health.
- Conduct detailed patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, recording vital signs, and evaluating oral conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to foster long-term dental health.
- Assist with various dental procedures such as prosthodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry as needed.
- Manage electronic medical records using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate seamlessly with dentists and dental assistants to coordinate care plans and facilitate efficient clinic operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry or specialized fields such as pediatric dentistry or oral surgery within a dental clinic setting.
- Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices relevant to dental care.
- Familiarity with procedures involving prosthodontics, orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and other specialty areas is highly desirable.
- Ability to accurately assess patient needs through vital signs measurement and clinical evaluation.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about oral health practices and treatment plans.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance by safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality.
