Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as an After School Staff member and help create a safe, engaging environment where children can thrive beyond the school day. In this part-time role, you will support positive youth development by leading enriching activities, building meaningful connections, and encouraging children's social and emotional growth.
We have positions available working with the grades K-3 age group, as well as our grades 4-8 group.
Duties
- Supervise youth during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Lead engaging youth group activities, including games, arts and crafts, sports and outdoor exploration
- Manage group behavior using effective and trauma informed behavior management techniques
- Assist with educational activities to support academic success
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress and any concerns
- Follow first aid protocols, including administering CPR or AED when necessary, and respond promptly to emergencies
- Foster a welcoming environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and inclusivity among youth
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed in accordance with Boys & Girls Club policies and Vermont state childcare regulations
Desired/Preferred Skills/Knowledge:
- Required: Experience planning and running programs based on the developmental needs of a diverse group of young people.
- Success with social emotional learning and trauma informed practices
- Experience, lived or otherwise, working with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as people who are LGBTQ or “first in family” to attend college
- Group leadership skills
- Flexible, entrepreneurial enthusiasm
- Willing and able to become CPR certified
- Required: employment subject to successfully passing a background check and completion of trainings required by the state of Vermont and Boys & Girls Clubs of America
- Required: must be at least 18 years of age
The Position:
- Required - Must be able to work at least 3 days a week; available shifts are 2:30 - 5:30 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 1:30 - 5:30 pm on Wednesday
- Fully in-person
- Pay: $19.65/hour
- Reports To: Program Director
