Froelich Engineers, Inc. is seeking a full-time, in-person civil project engineer or civil designer for our Portland office location.

As a Civil Designer or Civil Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning and design of site development projects. You will work under the supervision of licensed professional engineers while gaining hands-on experience in grading, stormwater management, utilities, and site layout. Duties
- Lead civil site design for commercial, residential, and mixed-use development projects from schematic design through construction documents
- Prepare and oversee grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design calculations and plan production
- Design stormwater systems including detention, conveyance, water quality, and infiltration facilities in accordance with local jurisdictional standards
- Design and coordinate water, sanitary sewer, and storm utility systems, including utility relocations and public improvements when required
- Develop and review civil construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and prepare supporting technical documentation
- Coordinate directly with architects, structural engineers, landscape architects, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and public agencies
- Prepare permit submittals and lead responses to jurisdictional review comments
- Attend and participate in client meetings, agency meetings, and internal coordination meetings
- Support construction administration, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and performing site visits
- Mentor junior designers and support internal quality control processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (required)
- Experience working in Oregon/Washington (preferred)
- Civil site design experience (commercial and/or residential development preferred)
- EI or PE license
- Demonstrated experience in grading design, stormwater management, and utility coordination
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience working with local jurisdictional standards and permitting processes
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with limited oversight
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with leadership potential
Pay: $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
