As an Independent Contractor, you will play a crucial role in the logistics and transportation industry. Your primary responsibility will be the safe and efficient transportation of goods and packages using your own vehicle or a Cargo Van/Sprinter. You will be responsible for managing your own schedule, optimizing routes, and ensuring timely delivery to clients. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to operate independently while contributing to the smooth functioning of supply chains.
Cargo Van/Independent Contractor Duties and Responsibilities
- Pick up packages and goods from designated locations and ensure their safe transportation to designated delivery points
- Plan optimal delivery routes to maximize efficiency and minimize delivery time
- Safely load and unload vehicle/cargo van, ensuring that items are securely stored to prevent damage during transportation
- Provide exceptional customer service during pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring a positive experience for clients
- Address any inquiries or concerns from clients in a professional and courteous manner
- Maintain your cargo van in good working condition, conducting routine checks and arranging for necessary repairs and maintenance
- Ensure compliance with all safety and vehicle maintenance regulations
- Maintain accurate records of packages picked up, delivered, and any incidents that occur during transportation
- Submit required documentation and reports on a timely basis
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to transportation, safety, and delivery services
- Comply with company policies and guidelines
- Effectively manage your time and prioritize tasks to meet delivery schedules and deadlines
- Communicate any delays or issues affecting delivery timelines to appropriate parties
Cargo Van/Independent Contractor Requirements and Qualifications
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Own a well-maintained, reliable vehicle/cargo van suitable for transporting packages
- Have valid insurance coverage for your vehicle/cargo van
- Previous experience in delivery, transportation, or a related field is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and address inquiries
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in meeting delivery schedules
- Ability to lift and move packages of varying sizes and weights
- Familiarity with local roads and traffic patterns to plan efficient delivery routes
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while representing the company
- Ability to handle unexpected situations and make quick, sound decisions to ensure successful deliveries
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
