Job Title: Komori Press Operator
Reports To: Plant Manager / Operations Manager

Summary
The Komori Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Komori offset printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials that meet customer specifications and production schedules. This position ensures accurate color reproduction, registration, print quality, and efficient press operation while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The Komori Press Operator works closely with production team members to maximize productivity, minimize waste, and deliver quality products on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review job tickets and verify specifications, materials, and special instructions before press setup.
- Set up and operate Komori offset printing presses according to production requirements.
- Verify that all required materials, including paper, ink, coatings, plates, and proofs, are available prior to production.
- Inspect printing plates, blankets, rollers, and other press components before each job.
- Achieve accurate color matches using proofs and customer specifications.
- Monitor ink density, registration, color consistency, and overall print quality throughout production.
- Perform press adjustments to maintain quality standards and production efficiency.
- Pull, inspect, and clearly identify production samples for quality approval.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on press equipment.
- Complete all required production documentation, including job counts, waste, downtime, and load information.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following company safety procedures.
- Communicate equipment or quality concerns to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and maintain high-quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3–5 years of offset printing press experience, preferably operating Komori presses.
- Strong understanding of offset printing processes, color management, and print quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production schedules, and work instructions.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Customer-focused with a strong sense of urgency.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- 3rd Shift: 10:00PM-6:00AM.
- Must be able to successfully perform all essential job functions.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of offset printing press operation experience, preferably on Komori equipment.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and understand job tickets, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Ability to complete production records accurately.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to perform basic math calculations involving measurements, quantities, percentages, and production counts.
- Ability to use standard measuring devices related to print production.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to identify printing defects and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to troubleshoot press performance and resolve routine production issues.
Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills required.
- Experience with production management software is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office is helpful.
Certificates and Licenses
- No certifications required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly works around moving mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to ink, cleaning solutions, paper dust, and moderate to high noise levels is common. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Physical Demands
- Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently use hands and arms to operate machinery and handle materials.
- Frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
