SAFETY DIRECTOR Keep Trucking LLC — Plainfield, IllinoisFull-Time | In-Office | Monday–Friday Keep Trucking LLC is looking for an experienced Safety Director to lead and oversee our company-wide safety and compliance operations. This is a leadership position for a proven trucking safety professional who understands that safety is more than paperwork. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the safety department, hold drivers and management accountable, identify risk before it becomes a problem, and maintain a strong culture of compliance. THE OPPORTUNITYAs Safety Director, you will have a direct impact on the safety performance and regulatory compliance of our fleet. You will work closely with ownership, operations, dispatch, and drivers to ensure Keep Trucking remains compliant, safe, and prepared for DOT/FMCSA requirements and audits. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage the company's Safety Department
- Oversee DOT and FMCSA regulatory compliance
- Monitor and manage ELD/HOS compliance
- Review driver logs, violations, inspections, and safety performance
- Manage Driver Qualification Files and required compliance documentation
- Monitor CSA scores and identify areas requiring corrective action
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and safety violations
- Manage accident and cargo claims and coordinate with insurance companies and adjusters
- Conduct driver safety coaching and corrective-action processes
- Oversee drug & alcohol compliance and required testing programs
- Maintain accurate safety records and ensure documentation is audit-ready
- Develop and enforce company safety policies and procedures
- Work with operations to address recurring safety issues
- Prepare for and assist with DOT/FMCSA audits and regulatory inquiries
- Hold drivers and departments accountable for safety standards
- Continuously identify ways to reduce accidents, violations, claims, and company risk
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years of trucking safety/compliance experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Strong understanding of ELD, HOS, DQ files, CSA, and driver compliance
- Experience handling accidents and claims
- Experience working with insurance companies and adjusters
- Experience managing or leading a safety department is strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership
- Professional, firm, and fair approach when dealing with drivers and management
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
