As a Speech-Language Pathologist in a school-based setting, you’ll help children and adolescents thrive by providing expert evaluation, intervention, and support in accordance with current laws and standards for special education.
Your advanced skills in pediatric and adolescent development, plus familiarity with medical and psychological diagnostic instruments, will be essential in assessing and addressing a variety of communication and learning disabilities. You’ll collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to create individualized strategies and foster student progress.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from a regionally accredited institution
- Valid Professional Educator Certification
- Solid understanding of laws, rules, and regulations for children with disabilities and regulated educational programs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities related to policy, law, and student needs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- ASHA Certification and ABSESPA Licensure strongly preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat communication disorders in school-aged children and adolescents
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, administrators, and parents
- Develop and implement individualized education and therapy plans
- Document student progress and maintain comprehensive records
- Advocate for students’ speech and language needs in IEP meetings and other forums
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal statutes governing special education
