Job Description: At Everstone Academy, we restore joy, identity, and possibility for learners who think differently—through deep expertise, strong relationships, and a supportive ecosystem for children and families. All programs we use are designed with the unique needs of dyslexic students, including Wilson Reading System, Woodin Math, and the Writing Revolution.
In partnership with Alcuin Montessori, Everstone offers a half-day academic program paired with Alcuin's nationally recognized Montessori education. Students receive specialized instruction through Everstone in the morning and participate in Montessori academics and enrichment in the afternoon, including art, Spanish, swimming, and theater.
Everstone Academy is seeking substitute instructors to join our team on an as-needed basis. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, adaptable, organized problem solver who steps confidently into the classroom and possesses a strong desire to support students and collaborate with our teaching team.
Location: 6942 Roosevelt Rd, Oak Park, IL 60304
Hours: 7:30 AM–12:30 PM, as needed (Monday–Friday availability preferred)
Pay: $90/day ($18/hour)
Teaching Details: Substitutes will work with junior and senior elementary students, covering reading, writing, and/or math depending on the teacher being filled in for.
Responsibilities:
- Step in for classroom teachers and implement provided lesson plans with fidelity
- Maintain established classroom management systems and routines
- Support the individual academic and SEL needs of students using provided guidance
- Collaborate with the Teaching Team to ensure continuity of instruction
- Maintain a safe and warm learning environment
- Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and, when appropriate, parents
- Utilize Everstone systems and curriculum as directed
Skills & Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Professional Educator License preferred
- LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist) endorsement highly preferred
- Experience working with elementary students, ideally through a special education lens
- Working knowledge of cognitive and emotional learning differences
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to follow and implement differentiated lesson plans
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a warm presence in the classroom
