About the Position
Play N Learn Academy is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and experienced Lead K-Prep Teacher to join our team. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about preparing young children for kindergarten through intentional teaching, structured learning experiences, and meaningful relationships.
Our K-Prep classroom is a busy, engaging environment where children are encouraged to explore, create, problem-solve, and develop the academic and social-emotional skills needed for future school success. We believe children learn best through a balance of purposeful play, hands-on experiences, teacher-guided instruction, and consistent routines.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and excited about planning lessons, implementing curriculum, assessing children's progress, and leading a classroom team.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with kindergarten readiness goals and Montana Early Learning Standards.
- Create engaging learning experiences in literacy, language development, mathematics, science, social studies, art, and social-emotional learning.
- Lead daily large-group, small-group, and individual learning opportunities.
- Maintain a structured classroom environment with consistent routines and high expectations for learning and behavior.
- Observe, assess, and document children's growth and development.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Foster positive relationships with children and support their social-emotional development through guidance, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
- Communicate professionally and regularly with families regarding their child's progress and classroom experiences.
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers to ensure quality classroom practices and teamwork.
- Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and compliance with licensing and program requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and ongoing program improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Experience teaching preschool or pre-kindergarten-aged children.
- Strong understanding of child development and kindergarten readiness expectations.
- Experience planning and implementing curriculum and lesson plans.
- Knowledge of classroom management and positive behavior guidance strategies.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, colleagues, and administration.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
