Work Schedule Summary
4 10 hour shifts, including weekends and some holidays. 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. Scheduling is self-managed and coordinated collaboratively between the two inpatient nurses, without fixed or assigned workdays. Attendance at division meetings, educational series, and clinical meetings is expected as required, generally occurring on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

Job Summary
The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to function as a member of the pediatric nephrology team. The team currently consists of 10 providers, 2 nurse practitioners, 1 dietitian and 2 registered nurses. This position will be responsible for delivering professional care to patients in an inpatient setting. As part of the patient care team, this position is responsible for providing optimal patient care through effective clinical practice; education of the patient, patient’s family, clinical staff, and others; consultation with other healthcare providers; and maintain current knowledge regarding options for optimal patient care and outcomes.

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
Often: Infectious disease, oils (there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids), hazards (includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals).

Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
