Position Summary
The floating teacher position is a full member of the Gem Prep Faculty. This position is not assigned to a specific class, but would be called on to continue instruction in the event of a faculty absence or need across our Treasure Valley Campuses (3 in Meridian and 1 in Nampa). Floating teachers are expected to understand and support Gem Prep's mission, school culture, and operational practices. This includes, but is not limited to, forming positive relationships with students, attending all staff meetings and trainings, and timely and professional communication with families and colleagues.
Successful floating teachers will be able to adapt to fluid circumstances. Though they do not bear primary responsibility for any one class, they may be called on to step into a variety of classes on any given day/week. These faculty members are professionals who are expected to maintain confidentiality, exhibit professional behavior, and display a positive attitude. Salary for a certified teacher is $52,408.00 annually and for non-certified staff $118.00 per day. ***Please note this position is for the 26-27 school year***
Key Responsibilities
- Provides students with a supportive, orderly, and interactive classroom environment where learning takes place.
- Serves as an educator and works directly with divisional heads to implement and assist with day-to-day programs.
- Adheres to school policies in all areas of student interaction.
- Serves as an example to colleagues in terms of classroom management, teaching methods, and school procedures.
- Assist faculty in providing academic guidance to students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Idaho teaching certificate in the content area for the job or the ability to obtain one.
