Sobrius is offering a sign on bonus for the Counselor position.
Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, this team member serves as the therapeutic counselor. In aspect of a residential substance abuse treatment program, by supervising, training, and monitoring the work of the client. In the provision of substance abuse treatment services and aftercare planning for assigned clients this individual provides individual therapy, group therapy, treatment planning, case management, client advocacy, counseling with crisis intervention and provides, coordinates, and arranges for family therapy services for program participants.

The CSAC collaborates with the Program Manager and other therapeutic team members to determine continuum of care for program participants.
- Provides individual and group counseling sessions.
- Review’s curricula and other program materials for clinical appropriateness.
- Any new curricula or materials must be submitted to the Clinical Director for approval.
- In conjunction with the assessment team ensures timely assessment of all newly arrived residents; participates in scheduling all residents into treatment activities; and monitors and evaluates performance of resident participation.
- Reviews and prepares all clinical documentation (treatment progress, treatment plans, and client coordination of care plan, etc.) and conducts regular quality assurance and quality improvement reviews to ensure that all appropriate record-keeping is performed on a timely basis.
- Acts as the program’s liaison with families and offers recommendations for program development and improvement.
- Provides ongoing client assessment to identify changing needs pertaining to the individual treatment and development strategy.
- Conducts regular chart reviews, ensuring that all appropriate record-keeping is performed on a timely basis and that all governing agency regulations are met.
- Attends meetings called by the Clinical Director, Program Manager, and/or the Vice President of Operations and participates in discussions concerning the revision, improvement and expansion of existing programs and offers recommendations.
- Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement and utilization review activities and makes recommendations to the Clinical Director for plans of corrections.
- Maintains established performance and conduct standards in accordance with organizational expectations.
- Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to evaluate individuals' mental and physical condition and to determine their suitability for participation in a specific program.
- Interview clients to gather information about their backgrounds, needs, or progress.
- Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
- Intervene as an advocate for clients or patients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations, ensuring direct communication with Program Manager and/or Clinical Director regarding details of incident.
- Coordinate counseling efforts with mental health professionals or other health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or social workers. Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
- Modify treatment plans to comply with changes in client status.
- Participate in case conferences or staff meetings.
- Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
- Coordinate activities with community stake holders, i.e.: courts, probation officers, community services, or other post-treatment agencies.
- Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
- Monitor other behavioral health professionals who provide client services.
- Work with the Discharge Planner to identify and help implement follow-up or aftercare programs for clients to be discharged from treatment programs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are rotating. Position may require monthly on-call rotation.
Required Education and Experience
- Possession of a license from the state board to practice in the state of Virginia as a CSAC.
- CSAC Supervisee is also acceptable.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Three to five years of experience in the delivery of substance abuse treatment counseling with an understanding of the need for holistic treatment, including trauma issues and gender-responsive environments.
- Certification as a substance abuse counselor.
- Bachelor Level
- Master Level
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Possesses clinical elements of substance abuse treatment.
- Possesses knowledge of trauma, attachment, and relational models.
- Possesses knowledge of methods for appropriate clinical documentation (Azzly Software) in a treatment setting.
- Possesses knowledge of techniques for effective assessments and case management.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports.
- Ability to analyze therapeutic processes and determine means of maintaining and/or increasing efficiencies.
- Ability to explain important concepts to residents.
- CSAC position(s) must be fully willing to sign and agree to company employment contract as well as OTHER DUTIES
