Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and highly skilled Certified IV Infusion Nurses to provide expert intravenous therapy and patient care across diverse clinical settings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of IV infusion techniques, medication administration, and patient assessment, ensuring safe and effective treatment delivery. As a Certified IV Infusion Nurse, you will play a vital role in administering therapies, educating patients, and supporting healthcare teams to promote optimal health outcomes. This position offers an opportunity to work in dynamic environments including hospitals, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and home care settings.
Duties
- Administer IV infusions accurately and efficiently, including medications, fluids, and blood products while adhering to aseptic technique standards.
- Monitor patient responses during infusion therapy, assessing vital signs and managing any adverse reactions promptly.
- Educate patients on infusion procedures, post-treatment care, and medication side effects to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation of procedures performed, patient responses, and any complications in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacists, and nursing staff to develop individualized infusion plans.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and safety.
- Perform venipuncture and catheter care with precision, ensuring optimal placement and maintenance of IV access devices.
- Assist in training new staff or students on infusion techniques, safety protocols, and documentation standards.
Skills
- Certification as a Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure in the relevant state or region.
- Proven expertise in IV insertion, catheter care, and infusion therapy across various clinical environments such as hospital medicine or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of advanced nursing procedures including aseptic technique, phlebotomy, suturing assistance, and medication administration.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring hospice & palliative care.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to recognize complications such as allergic reactions or infiltration during infusions.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in acute care settings such as ICU or trauma centers while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to cardiology, infectious disease care, trauma medicine, or critical care is advantageous.
