The City of Anaheim Community Services Department is seeking a Part Time Senior Program Specialist to provide support to the Older Adult Program.
The Part Time Senior Program Specialist plans, coordinates, and implements citywide programs, services, and special events for the senior population. This position will help coordinate and monitor the day-to-day program operations, including the scheduling of educational classes and recreation programs, provide program information and community resources to seniors, plan and implement special events, and assist with the coordination and management of the nutrition and transportation programs. This position will lend support to develop and distribute program marketing materials, assist in maintaining web-based program information, and research and compile social service and community resources for seniors. Additional responsibilities include assisting with preparing and maintaining program records, completing reports, performing a variety of technical, clerical support and lead worker functions, assisting with coordination and directing the work of staff and volunteers, assist in setting up facility spaces for programs and special events, including tables, chairs and other equipment necessary for implementation of scheduled programs and special events, perform administrative duties related to the assignment, and perform related work as required. Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly desirable.
DISTINGUISING CHARACTERISTICS: This is the journey level classification in the Recreation Services series. Incumbents are responsible for program planning, staff supervision, and administration for a particular recreational services program or functional area.
Experience:

Two (2) years journey level experience related to the recreational program to which assigned, including supervision of employees and volunteers.
Knowledge of:

Experience in employee and volunteer supervision and recreation/community facility site management and oversight.

Principles, practices, and service delivery needs related to the program area(s) to which assigned.

Maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner; operate the Department's program registration and facility software system.

Operate modern office equipment including computer equipment and software programs; maintain accurate logs, records, and written records of work performed.

The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and be able to maintain effective working relationships with others.

License/Certification Required: Possession of a valid California Driver's License by date of appointment.
Note: Possession of a current (less than two years) tuberculosis clearance slip by date of appointment. Fingerprinting at the time of hire is a state-mandated requirement for all employees having direct contact with minors.
This is a part-time position usually averaging 30 hours per week. A minimum number of hours is not guaranteed.
