Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medicaid Specialist to join our Long Term Care team. Duties
- Review and interpret Medicaid regulations to ensure compliance across all patient interactions and documentation processes
- Assist patients with Medicaid enrollment, renewal, and eligibility verification procedures
- Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for accurate data entry, medical record management, and documentation of client interactions
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and case managers to coordinate discharge planning and ongoing care services
- Conduct intake assessments for new clients, including behavioral health evaluations and social determinants of health screening
- Apply CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, and medical terminology accurately for billing and documentation purposes
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality and sensitive information
- Communicate effectively with clients from underserved communities, including bilingual support when applicable
- Assist in the review of medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy for billing and compliance audits
Requirements
- Must have Long Term Care Business Office Experience
- Proven experience working in Long Term Care settings or acute care environments with familiarity in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10) and healthcare support functions
- Strong understanding of Medicaid regulations, health insurance policies, and patient service protocols
- Experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders or mental health conditions; familiarity with behavioral health services is highly desirable
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry, electronic health records management, and documentation workflows
- Excellent client communication skills with a compassionate approach to working with diverse populations including those from underserved communities
- Ability to interpret medical terminology accurately and apply it within medical records and billing processes
- Bilingual skills are preferred to better serve diverse client populations
- Experience in discharge planning, case management, or social work is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining patient confidentiality and supporting healthcare operations
